8th Grade in 'action'

Welcome to our HMB 7/8 Grades
Creative Musical Appreciation and Musical Awareness Class
(more commonly called 'General Music)

Picture
This class consists of studying listening to various music genres and styles from various cultures by observing 'live' online big screen performances, all the while preserving our own American culture through miscellaneous music talks, classroom discussions.  The students will also be experiencing various cultural performances from various locations around the world.

The students will have many opportunities to be challenged to develop a deeper awareness of 'all kinds of music' through classroom 'mini-lectures' and group discussions along with various in-class and online writing assignments.

As we progress into the school year, the students will be invited to delve into the early stages of creative musical composition through use of a world-class professional computer music program - after they have mastered the music notational "paper and pencil" method, of course.  This program will also be able to be accessed from their home computer.

Personal student materials needed for each and every class session:
Pencil (HMB not provided)
Music Folder (HMB provided) containing all forms/notes students will 'be required' and/or 'choose' to keep for test notes
Chromebook - fully charged and in working order - or make up at home or 'zero' for that assignment
Ear buds - Personally provided & owned working ear plugs / headphones daily or make up at home or 'zero'
