Hey Kids: If you truly want to rehearse and perform the 'stuff' you would like to play...
If you truly want to make it 'your music' and experience a little taste of the 'world of America's High School bands'...
Become a 'part-owner' of your HMB Band...
Evaluate yourself and nobody else!
"Ask not what your band can do for you, but what you can do for your band!"
Go 'beyond' blowing into a tube of metal / plastic / wood - make music!
Look at your music closer; go beyond the 'correct notes' and 'correct fingerings' - create excitement for others!
Strive to develop a deeper understanding of the workings of the entire performance program at HMB.
Practice at home or in one of the practice rooms.
Encourage yourself and others, but please do not be discouraging to anyone, especially yourself.
Take pride & joy in your group and in your part of how you 'fit in' to make it work for all of us!
If you don't think you 'fit in,' then jump in deeper; it is far more fun for all of us, including you, if you fit in well!
Your own band ownership is very similar to those businesses who allow 'stock ownership' to their employees.
Be part of the answer, not the problem - and we will all enjoy the results of your positive contribution!
Keep your grades up and your class work up to date. Don't risk being 'taken out' of the group to study! Do not schedule any make-up tests, extra help sessions, "poster making", etc. during IV period. Please check the calendar so you do not schedule any 'out of school' appts on or near performance dates.
