Plans for any pep band performances are also 'on hold' until we see what we can do! So practice up!!!
Pride Day at UND is forever written in the history books now. We got in on their last year two years ago and then last year, the special invite - and what an honor it was!
So, where should we go this year?
As one of your band counsel members, Summer just recently sent me 40 possible pep band suggestions. I have listened to all of them and have narrowed the list down to the following pieces.
This list will get narrowed down to two or three for new ones this year. We have plenty left from last year we can still work on - even a few new ones, if I remember correctly, anyway.
If you want any input, just email me your thoughts.
I look for the following concerning choosing your pep band music:
Are there any WW parts and are they playable / learnable / be heard?
Are the low brass playable / learnable / can you be powerful enough?
Bari / Tenor Sax parts will be key to success of this music
Solo trumpet parts - Trombones going to be powerful?
Percussion - can we keep all of our percussionists busy - and can we recreate them to make them possible. Pep Band Percussion is usualy minimum grade 3... pretty tough stuff - and often even overpower the band.
Lyrics - I am going to have to check the lyrics a little closer this year.
Remember, before we can make any decisions and goals, etc., we have to wait and see exactly who the members for the band will be - it will all depend on your ability, your willingness to 'practice' and make this music work - AND of course, money available.
