34th annual - January 18,19,20
2019
UND Honor Band,
Choir, Strings Festival
Matthew Macdonald - Tuba

Congratulations for a job well done to Matthew Macdonald who performed with over 400 pre-auditioned band, choir and orchestra kids from North Dakota and Minnesota at the 34th annual Honor Band, Choir and Orchestra Festival at UND.

After talking with the directors, we found out that this particular event is ranked above All-state in numbers of students selected and because of the great difficulty of the music.

For the finale' of the evening, Matthew participated in the combined performance, including all the band, choir and orchestra students, with their performance of "Dry Your Tears Africa," which was composed by John Williams for the movie "Armistad."

It was a long and cold trip but it was well worth the effort - from his initial audition with Dr. James Popejoy, the UND band conductor, the long wait for results and now the actual even itself. It was a music activity that Matthew will not forget ... nor will I.   Mr. Paulson
